Changes at Ryan's Place

*This is going to be a long post!*

Over the last little while, a lot of things have been happening out at Ryan's place . . .

This is the view from further up the driveway

Yes! A house is being built! Ever since purchasing his land three years ago, Ryan had planned to eventually build a house, and now it is actually happening! It has been really exciting to see the progress . . . from first being excavated, to having the footings poured, then the block put up, and now it is time to start on the floor.

This is one of the reasons why we have been going out to his place quite a bit recently as we all want to see the progress that is being made! Here are some photos from our times out at his land over the past month or so . . .

Looking at where the future house is going to be - Ryan already had it staked out at this time

After the excavating had been finished. Ryan is explaining to us something about what will be happening next.

Ryan and Mama

An explanation must go with this photo! Right before this was going to be taken, Ryan started having too much fun :) - thus the reason for the faces in the above photo! I'll refrain from posting the photo that was taken directly after this one. :) Eventually we did end up with a 'normal' one, though! . . .

It was really muddy one of the days when we went out to Ryan's place!

Leah attempting to clean the mud off of her boots (this was a process we were all doing right about this time! :)

And while the foundation/crawlspace was being built (someone else did it for him), Ryan had been working on his entrance gate and that is looking very nice so far . . .

It has been so wonderful to be able to see my brother's dreams coming to fruition and also to see how much he has learned, researched, planned and prepared for this season. I am continually amazed with how much he knows about all of this!

And now today the electric service should be going in, and the waterlines should be put in soon, too! These next months are definitely going to be exciting and busy!!

You weren't kidding when you said this was going to be a long post!! The pictures are really cute:) I have also been enjoying my brothers dreams coming true. He has to move (around) two thousand miles away, but we are so happy to him full filling his dreams that God has placed in him!!

Isn't it wonderful that he has been using his time wisely instead of wasting it on foolish entertainment.
You are all to be greatly commended.
We can't wait to see the progress.
God bless you.

How exciting, Sarah! It must be so fun to see everything gradually come together. I hope you will keep posting on the progress! How many acres does Ryan have? I remember in years past you did some haying. Do you plan to do any this year? Or maybe you already have and I missed it! Also, could you point me to the post where you made the cover for your Bible? I would like to try making one, but I cannot seem to locate the exact post. Thank you so much.

We thought this was going to be a basement. Is it a peer and beam?

This is so neat! I bet Ryan is very excited...is he doing this himself? The scenery in this and your last post are so lovely..when the leaves change I bet it will be sight to behold.:)

I am so happy for Ryan! It must be so nice to be able to build your own house with beautiful land surrounding you. I am sure he will be very happy there~hopefully with a bride, maybe? (Now I am being much too nosy)I pray that God continues to bless Ryan these next months with good health so he can continue to build his house. Rose

I have almost asked you several times, ever since the courtship announcement if he was going to build a house out there. I can hardly wait to *see* it come together.

Your comment made me laugh, Desiree! :) There were just so many photos that I wanted to share. But you should have seen all the ones that I didn’t put on! There were so many to choose from! :)

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to see our brother’s dreams coming true? I am sure that you are excited for your brother!

Thank you, Anonymous, for your encouraging words! They were a blessing to us. :) Yes, it has been wonderful to be able to see how Ryan has been wisely using his time . . . he is a good example to me!

I look forward to sharing about the progress made on the house over the next months!

It is exciting, Anna! We have all enjoyed going out to his place from time to time and seeing all of the progress. And now that the foundation/crawlspace is finished, we'll be out there a lot more as we’ll be helping him to build it! And yes, I will keep posting about the progress made on the house. :)

Ryan has 20 acres with the majority of it being pasture, and it is bordered by trees, gullies and a creek. We did do some haying this year, but not as much as last year. The little bit we did, though, was so much fun!

Have fun making your Bible cover! And if you have any questions about how I made mine, please feel free to ask. :)

It does kind of look like a basement, Anonymous! :) I think Ryan is building it pier and beam, but I am not for sure.

It is, Ellen! :) Yes, Ryan is very excited! Someone else built the crawlspace/foundation for him, and from this point on now, Ryan will be doing the building himself with some help from some guys he knows as well as from us. It will be a fun adventure!

Once the leaves begin to change it will be beautiful! I always enjoy that time of year. :)

Thank you so much, Rose, for your sweet and encouraging comment! And for your prayers for Ryan as he builds the house. They are very much appreciated!

Yes, he will be happy living out there, and we'll just have to see what else happens as the Lord guides and directs over the coming months! :) It will be exciting to see what happens!

How proud you and your family must be of Ryan's focus and determination. So many of today's young men literally squander thier time and resources, but not your brother, Ryan. He sounds like a FABULOUS role model.

Your comment was a great encouragement to us, Mrs. B.! Thank you! Yes, it has been a blessing to all of us to see all that has taken place in Ryan’s life over the past few years, and how he has planned and prepared for now, making a wise use of his time and resources. He has been an example to me, I know! :)
