The Lumberjack

These photos were taken about three weeks ago now and were the precursor to the log pile photo in the last post. Daddy has gotten so much chain-sawed so far! There is still quite a bit left to do, but we've made a lot of progress . . . and it looks like we may even reach our goal of having it all finished before everything is all green again! (And overgrown. :)

Logs waiting to be hauled away and stacked

Today it is forecasted to warm up into the 50's so I think we'll be outdoors for at least part of the day working on projects such as this . . . already our spring has been quite productive, and it will be exciting to see what all will be able to be accomplished over the next weeks!

  1. Oh what the old time lumberjacks would have given for a chain saw!

  2. Ohhh...the never ending woodpile!
    :-) Looking forward to today's
50's. We're cleaning out the "chick room" - 100 chicks arrive tomorrow.
    Enjoy the sunshine!
    Blessings,
    Anne ♥

  4. It must be wonderful to think back on how the land looked when you first purchased it, as opposed to the progress you are making on it now. I do hope your weather will warm up (and I hope the snow is gone for the year for you). I'm praying that you have a bountiful harvest this year (with deer and rabbits that stay well away from your tempting tender plants!).

  5. I am sure they would have very much appreciated them, Amy! :) While our Dad has been using the chainsaw, Leah and I have been using handsaws to help cut off branches, etc., and I cannot imagine what it would be like to cut up a whole tree with just hand tools!

  6. It is indeed, Anne! I hope you all have been enjoying your warmer weather and sunshine, too. :) And how exciting about all of your little chicks! We have around 50 coming in a few weeks which we are looking forward to!

  8. It is, Miss Linda! And it is amazing how much it has changed . . . I was looking the other day at photos from just two years ago, and we have made so much progress since then!

Our weather has started to warm up now, and I think that spring might be here to stay. :) Thank you for your prayers for our garden! We shouldn’t have nearly as much trouble with deer and rabbits this year, as we plan to extend the electric fence around the whole garden to keep them out . . . that will be so nice!
