Joyously Announcing . . .

It is with great joy and thanksgiving that I am able to now share with you all the wonderfully, exciting news that Ryan and Ashley's little family has grown! After a healthy pregnancy over these past nine months, little Adelyn Blythe entered the world July 13th with a head of dark hair, beautiful blue eyes, and the sweetest little personality . . .

Adelyn Blythe
Weight: 9lbs 2 oz

It was a very long and hard labor, but thankfully, Adelyn came into the world safely, and both Mommy and baby did very well through the whole experience. How thankful we are for the Lord's hand of protection over both Ashley and little Adelyn!

Their first family photo taken the day of Adelyn's birth

The morning of Adelyn's birth, Daddy, Mama, Leah and I drove to the hospital and eagerly made our way to their room . . . I can remember each moment of that memorable day (and the days prior as we waited and prayed!) . . . walking in and seeing Ryan and Ashley with little Adelyn nestled comfortably in Ashley's arms. The smiles on their faces, the great joy in their eyes.

'Grandma' was the first one of us to hold her and after just a bit of fussing, her first grandbaby settled down contentedly in her arms . . .

Mama holding her first grandchild

Adelyn was passed around with each one of us enjoying holding her for great lengths of time. She is such a contented little baby who loves to be held!

Leah meeting her little niece for the first time

I cannot even begin to describe to you the emotions of this day . . . thanksgiving was definitely the predominate one . . . joy, wonder, awe, and much more. Words cannot adequately express it!
Opening her eyes while Leah was holding her . . . so precious!

Daddy holding his granddaughter for the first time

Me meeting my niece

As I held this precious little bundle in my arms for the first time, this special gift from the Lord, what wonder and what love swept over me as I looked into her sweet little face. As I saw her tiny fingernails, her beautiful blue eyes, her adorable little mouth, her attempt to suck her fingers . . . what a precious, precious gift . . . to think that Ryan and Ashley are this little ones' parents . . .

The happy little family

The new Mommy and her baby daughter

The proud and happy Daddy

That Dad and Mom are her grandparents . . .

So happy!

That Leah and I are her aunts . . .

Leah holding one day old Adelyn . . . isn't the bow in her hair cute! One of the nurses put it there.

And me treasuring this moment of rocking little Adelyn

And many miles away there are grandparents, uncles and an aunt who love her dearly as well.

What a wonderful, precious time this is!

Ryan holding Adelyn

Aren't baby things so cute?!

We all couldn't stop looking at and enjoying this adorable addition to the family, and it was so wonderful to see Ryan and Ashley with their firstborn child, a precious baby girl. God has been so good . . . He has blessed abundantly and how thankful we all are for this new little life, Adelyn Blythe.

"For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well" (Psalm 139:13-14.)

"Behold, children are a gift from the LORD," (Psalm 127:3.)

*And just a little note for those of you who may be wondering . . . Ryan and Ashley had desired that this wonderful news wait to be shared until Baby came into the world. So I held all of the excitement in over these months and am so excited to be able to share this with you now!

*And one more little note . . . this is one reason why I have been a little absent from the blog world lately! :)

  9. Congratulations Sarah! I know you will be a wonderful aunt to Adelyn! What does her name mean?

I had a similar experience like yours last March. My sister had her third baby and it's supposed to be a boy (#3) but it turned out that it was a girl instead. We're all surprised and happy. Her name is Sarah! I went to visit her for the first time at the hospital too when she's about 6 hours old. It is God's miracle to see how tiny Sarah was. I love and still do holding Sarah.

Anyways, sorry I talked too much and besides this is your special moment not mine. Again congratulations Aunt Sarah. Have you made any clothes or dolls for Adelyn yet? Hope you will post more pictures of Adelyn in the future.

  14. Congratulations to Ryan and Ashley.:-) This is certainly wonderful news for all of you. (Although it's not a total surprise, considering your creative cropping of photos lately, Sarah!) Adelyn is indeed a beautiful baby. How do you say her name--Ade-lin? Ade-line?

It would have been nice to share in you all's prenatal excitement as well, as we shared in Ryan and Ashley's courtship, wedding plans and preparations, and house-building. But I'm sure they had good reasons for choosing to withhold that part of their lives, and they are certainly entitled to their privacy.

I imagine Adelyn has a wonderful life ahead of her, with two doting aunts nearby, as well as grandparents. We look forward to seeing more of her in future posts.

    ~ Betsy

  20. Thank you all so very much for your sweet comments! Each one was very much enjoyed and appreciated . . . it was so fun signing in to my blogger periodically and seeing the new ones that were there! Your kind words and thoughtfulness were a blessing! Even as I type this reply now, I have a big smile on my face as I read through each one of your comments . . . the happiness is certainly overflowing over here!

I am so glad that you all enjoyed the photos, and you can be sure, there will be more coming! I am loving not only spending time holding sweet little Adelyn, but I love photographing her as well. It is so fun trying to capture her many varied expressions! And yes, I am very much enjoying being an aunt. :) Very much!

Miss Sarah, yes indeed, I am so glad that the Lord gives babies! They are so very precious and are such a testimony to His love and His wisdom. They are little miracles!

Ellen, her first name is simply a name that Ryan and Ashley liked, but her middle name, Blythe, is Ashley’s middle name. And if I am remembering correctly, she was named after a family member as well. And yes, I am enjoying little Adelyn so much!

Miss Linda, they are home from the hospital now, thankfully, and are so enjoying their time together! Ryan and Ashley said that one of their favorite things to do now is to just sit and watch her. I don’t blame them! She is just so precious and makes so many different cute expressions!

Leah, Ashley told me what Adelyn’s name means, but now I cannot remember! I’ll have to ask again. Perhaps it was serene? I think it was something like that. I am sure that was exciting being an aunt again last March! We saw Adelyn for the first time when she was about 6 hours old as well. As you shared, babies are indeed a miracle from God. Yes, I have made some clothes for Adelyn, and I am sure I will be making more. It is so fun making things for babies! A doll will also be made at some point in time. :)

Senkyoushi, I will be sure to pass on your congratulations to her!

Betsy, so you noticed the creative cropping? :) You are not the only one! The pronunciation of her name would be the first one you mentioned: Ade-lin.

Ashley-Joydana, that’s neat that you share the same birthday with her! And happy birthday a little late. :)

Caitlin, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving a comment! I remember you from HSA . . . I’ll have to stop by there and also your blog. Congratulations on being an aunt come January! I am sure you are excited. And thank you for your kind words about our garden . . . I hope that yours does well for you!
