Pure Happiness . . .

~ . . . is holding Adelyn for two and half to three hours while she slept ~

She likes to lay in unusual positions. :)
(And in this photo, I was patting her with my left hand as she was starting to get a little restless.)

This past Sunday, our meeting with brothers and sisters in the Lord was at our house, and during lunchtime while Ashley ate, Mom held Adelyn, and then once I was finished eating, I took her so Mom could eat. After walking around with her a bit and then singing to her "Jesus Loves Me" (only with using 'you' instead of 'me'), she fell asleep . . . and slept and slept and slept. Even through going outdoors with the children and visiting all of the animals (which included roosters crowing and dogs barking), she slept on.

After coming back inside, we settled on the couch together . . . and it was positively bliss. She is so precious! There is nothing like holding a sleeping baby with their warm little body against you, watching the varying expressions play across her face, listening to her little baby noises as she sleeps . . . happy sigh. It sure is wonderful being an aunt!

And just so you all know, she is awake sometimes, too! :) In fact, quite often she lays there contentedly looking around with her beautiful blue eyes . . . and I hope to have some 'awake' photos of her to share soon!

  5. How sweet! It is amazing what little ones can sleep through sometimes! Last night Abigail, who just turned one, fell asleep in the living room while three of her boy cousins were over for a visit. It was loud, as you can imagine little boys are :), but she slept right through everything.

Our newest precious baby arrived this past Firday, and he also seems to be able to block out noise (so far anyway) smile:).

Love the picture of you and little Adelyn! I agree, there is something so beautiful about holding a sleeping baby! :)

  9. How precious, Sarah! That's one thing I have no regrets about in my mothering...I always spent hours and hours holding each little newborn. I just let everything else go and enjoyed holding and cuddling with them. :)

Our babies have all been held a lot. Just a few days ago another (older than me) mother was saying that babies can "get spoiled" by holding them too much. Nonsense! I don't believe that for a second!

Enjoy your sweet little niece! :)

  10. Such sweet moments! I love holding and rocking a baby. Mine were all held and rocked and slept on my shoulder or in a front carrier while I walked around doing things.
    You're a great aunt! :-)

The next time I see her, I’ll give her a hug from you! (I forgot to do it today when I saw her, though I did remember to deliver the hugs and kisses from grandma. :) And I brought my camera along today so I hope to have another post with photos of her soon!

  21. How precious! :D Even though my little brother is hardly a baby any more :), I still love holding him when he is asleep. A sleeping baby or young child is also so sweet!
