A Twist on Traditional

The other day I was wanting to make a different type of bread so used my regular bread recipe and turned it into a braided bread! I was pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out . . .

It is exactly the same recipe as my 100% whole wheat recipe, and I simply braided it and then brushed it with an egg wash. It's amazing the versatility one recipe can have!

  5. Beautiful and looks (as I'm sure it is) delicious! I can definitely imagine breaking a chunck off to enjoy with a hearty cup of soup and a smear of rosemary butter. Yum!

Thank you for providing the directions for using the KitchenAid stand mixer. :)

  14. Thank you, Renee! I think the night we had this, it was with a soup. :) It makes an excellent dipping bread!

I hope that the directions for the KitchenAid stand mixer will be helpful. My sister-in-law and I tried it for the first time last week with her mixer and were so pleased with how well it worked!

  15. Thank you, Elizabeth! Bread is enjoyable to make, and braided breads I am finding are even more so. This was only my second time making one, and it definitely won't be the last!

  16. Thank you, Rachel! The flour that I bake with the most is freshly ground whole wheat (both soft white and hard white), and then I do use some all-purpose flour sometimes as well (mainly in cookies/cakes and biscuits.) So far that is as far as I have ventured with different flours!
