Precious Gracen

We have all been enjoying little Gracen so much! Many days during the weeks since her birth have found either some of us going out to Ryan and Ashley's or them coming to our place. Most of those times her aunts and grandma have been way too busy spending time with the little girls and visiting with Ryan and Ashley to even think about cameras, so sometimes there weren't any photos taken. (Like this past Tuesday when Leah and I went out to help Ashley . . . we had such an enjoyable time then! It doesn't get much better than a wonderful few hours of visiting with Ashley while cuddling and playing with two of the sweetest little girls there are. And yes, I am slightly biased! :)

But here are some of the precious moments that were captured . . .

Gracen in Mom's arms . . . only a few days old here and so tiny!

Mom and Dad with their two granddaughters . . . they make incredible grandparents! I love watching and listening to them with Adelyn and Gracen.

Leah's comment when holding her dear niece in her lap was something along the lines of "I could just look at her all day." And indeed, that is not an understatement. :)

Gracen just looked and looked into my face for the longest time while I talked to her . . . . What is it about a newborn baby that can so quickly capture the heart? That can bring such powerful love so quickly? Each time I hold her in my arms, and gaze into her adorable face and think about the little person that she is, awe, thanksgiving, and so much love flood over me . . . And to think that this precious girl is my very own niece!

Aww . . . :) I love watching my sister as an aunt!

Mom was talking and singing to Gracen, and Gracen was so happy and content! I wonder if she will like music and singing as much as Adelyn does?

Our precious little sweetheart . . . we love her so much!

  1. Love this post! You never told us what Adelyn think of her new sister. Is she happy that there's a baby in the house or is she jealous because she has to share the attention? Or what? I love Leah's long hair and am little jealous. I have long hair too but not that long, only to my waist. Who has the longest hair, you, Leah or your mom?

  4. Thanks for another lovely post on little Gracen, Sarah. I was wondering if their other grandma and grandpa have been able to see her in person yet? As ecstatic as I'm sure they are, it must still be a little tough on them to be so far away from their little grandbabies!

  5. I am glad that you enjoyed it, Leah! Adelyn seems to really like her new little sister . . . except she is having a hard time of ‘sharing’ Mommy. I think it will take awhile for her to get used to the fact that her Mommy can’t always take care of her first. It will be a good opportunity for her to start learning patience!

Leah has the longest hair of us right now. :)

  8. You’re welcome, Betsy! Yes, her Grandma and Grandpa Castlebury were able to come and visit them for a week a couple of weeks after Gracen was born. It was a wonderful time for all of them, and they so enjoyed their time together!

  10. Dear Sarah,

What precious moments these are, and it was such a blessing to see them. Gracen is beautiful. It must have been too special for words when she was looking into your face for that first time. I remember a moment like this, three years ago, soon after my only little sister was born!

  11. How very precious! So happy for Ryan and Ashley! :) Our first two were born exactly one year and two days apart and they love playing with each other.

I am sure it will be wonderful for little Gracen and Adelyn to be so close in age growing up together! :) It can be challenging when two babies need attention at the same time, but the blessings are so much greater, and God always provides my lack. :)

  13. I really enjoyed seeing some more photos of precious Gracen! I can quite understand Leah – I recall saying something very similar with my little brother (I think it was along the lines of "I could hold him all day."). Little babies are just so precious and cuddly! (And so are three-year-olds – and anything in between! – though when they are older they tend to prefer running about above being held.)

    Blessings,
    Anna

You can tell she is such a happy little girl and has so many that love her and enjoy the times with her.

The I always loved to hold the babies I cared for and finally would put them down in their cribs and stand there and watch them, beautiful angels they are.

And I loved the last little boy, they had those baby monitors and I would be downstairs while he was napping and I would hear suddenly, mommy, oma (grandma), kathy, he would just start calling out as he didn't remember who would come to get him up. And yes, I loved seeing his beautiful happy smile and chat away with him and change him and wash his sweaty body down as he would sweat when sleeping. And their dog Candy loving that he was up as that meant after he had his snack, it was outside time for all of us.

they grow up too fast and so enjoy ever second of their babyhood, toddler hood but what is so nice is that you enjoy all the stages as they grow.

I loved it when they started to chatter, listening to their constant chattering about everything and anything. And the questions that come out of them, they keep you on your toes.

    Hugs to your beautiful neices.

They are so blessed to be born in your family.

  17. Thank you, Emily! Your first two were close together as well. :) How fun that must have been for you! We are already enjoying watching Adelyn and Gracen together, and I know it is going to be wonderful for them growing up so close in age. It will be fun to watch their relationship grow and develop!

Yes, it can be challenging when two babies need attention at the same time . . . Ashley has discovered that. Yet she is doing amazing with the challenges that have come with two little ones. I love watching her as a mother! Yes, the blessings are so much greater than the challenges, and it is wonderful how the Lord’s grace is always sufficient. As you shared, always providing your lack. He is so faithful!

  19. I am glad that you enjoyed them, Anna! I can just imagine you saying that when holding your little brother. :) He is blessed to have you as his older sister!

Little babies are indeed so precious and cuddly! We are loving our times of being able to hold Gracen . . . she is a dear! Whenever we get together, she is always in someone’s arms, and everyone is always eager for a chance to hold her. :) Yes, as they get older, sitting and being held isn’t quite as enjoyable for little ones as they would much rather be up and about! Each age has its own pleasures and enjoyments, don’t they?

  20. She is, Kathy! She’s our little sunshine. :) It sounds like you have special memories of the times you have been able to spend with children! What precious gifts they are . . . both the children and the memories.

They do grow up fast, and each age has its specialness and things to enjoy with it! As you shared, it is so nice to enjoy each of the stages as they grow.

Yes! listening to their chatter is so fun. Adelyn really enjoys talking, and I can hardly wait until she begins using actual words so that we can understand what she is saying!

Thank you for your sweet comment!
