At the Piano . . .

Last evening after chores were finished, I came inside, sat at the piano, and played and sang some of my favorite songs in the Bright Lights Let My Life be a Light song book . . .

Be Thou My Vision

In Christ Alone

May the Mind of Christ my Savior

Before the Throne of God Above

I am Resolved

Let My Life be a Light

It is Well

and more.

It was just me, the piano, and my Lord . . . I love times like these! As my fingers ran across the keys and I sang to the Lord the words of each of the songs, my heart was both spiritually refreshed and uplifted, as well as encouraged and convicted. Each song has such powerful words . . . of praise and thanksgiving to God, of telling the great things that He has done for us and His love, of service and consecration to Him, of obedience and following Him, and so much more!

  1. In Christ Alone....what a lovely meaningful song this is.

  2. A time of worship, isn't it.
I can't play piano, but I sing along with my CD's. "I Am Resolved" ~ one of my favorites. :-)

  3. What a sweet time! Few, if any, moments are quite so lovely and refreshing as drawing near to the Lord in music and song.

I'm sorry I haven't commented for ages, but I still do read and enjoy every post! :-) Thank you for keeping up this blog!

  4. What a lovely way to praise the Lord.

  5. These are indeed beautiful hymns! How neat that you have the Bright Lights songbook! Have you participated in this ministry? Our girls were involved in a Bright Lights group for many years in Michigan!

  6. Beautiful hymns! I love them all, but I really love "Let My Life be a Light". ;-)

  7. Music is such a blessing, isn't it? I love singing beautiful tunes with powerful and meaningful words, and especially songs that are direct prayers to God! What special times we can have of worship and praise to our Savior!
I really like the Bright Lights song book. It has a lot of my favorites in it, :-)Thanks for sharing this post, Sarah!

  8. I've heard of Bright Lights for the first time about a year ago when I saw Sarah Malley on 19 Kids & Counting show. I was very interested to learn more about "Before You Meet Prince Charming" book. Have you read it? Is it good? The reason I'm not buying it is because I'm already into 30's and felt this book might be way too young for me and I already made my commitment to God long time ago what I would or would not do. "Let My Life be a Light" song book sounds interesting but too bad I don't play any instruments. I could listen to the cd but I prefer dvd. To watch and listen at the same time. Anyways, I'm glad you had a great time spending with God to sing and play for him.

  9. It is indeed, Elizabeth!

  10. It is, Mrs. Anne! I do that with CD's, too. :) A lot!

The words to “I Am Resolved” are wonderful ones . . . it always encourages and strengthens me to sing them.

  11. It was so good to hear from you again, Katie! And yes, I would certainly agree . . . I love times like these.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the posts! And you're more than welcome. :) It is fun to do!

  12. It is indeed, Suze . . . and it always refreshes my heart!

  13. I haven't participated in the ministry before, Betsy . . . it sounds like a wonderful one, though! That's a blessing that your girls were able to be involved with one of their groups in Michigan. I love their songbook (and the accompanying CD)!

  14. They are indeed, Gabby! That is one of my top favorites as well . . . the words are convicting!

  15. It is very much so, Karen! That is wonderful that you love doing this as well . . . as you shared, we can have special times indeed praising the Lord in this way.

That's great that you have the song book, too! It has many of my favorites as well and has become my favorite book to play and sing out of.

    You're welcome!

  16. I have heard good things about that book, Leah, though I have not read it myself. It was encouraging reading what you shared about your commitment to God! That is wonderful. :) Thank you for sharing!

There is a CD to go with the book which I am sure you would enjoy! Though, I know what you mean about liking DVDs . . . it is indeed nice to watch and listen at the same time.

Thank you! And thank you for your comment. :)

Thanks so much for your comment! Each one is read and enjoyed. :)
