Encouragement from Colossians

When reading through Colossians earlier this week, these verses from chapter one especially spoke to my heart . . . they are so encouraging! And convicting. I hope that they will be a blessing to you as they were to me!

" . . . that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

"strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light."

"For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:9b-14

  2. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing those verses. They give me a deeper longing to serve and love the Lord even more. What a precious promise we have of being strengthened by HIS might to bear fruit and come to know Him!

By the way, I love the apple blossoms. ;)

  3. I love Colossians! My favorite verse will always be Col 3:1-3. Never fails to hit me square between the eyes. Especially with my wayward heart; I'm always getting too caught up in earthly home making tasks and losing sight of serving an eternal God with what I do.

Couldn't you just stare into flower blossoms all day?! I know I could. . . XD

    Great post!

  4. Love this! These verses also make me think of Philippians 1:9-11, which is another one of my favorite passages that speaks along these lines. I love the unity of all the books of the Bible. :-)

  5. Hello Sarah,

I love these verses because ... years ago I was praying for my children when God spoke specific verses into my heart regarding each of them. Colossians 1:9-12 are the verse He gave me for our daughter.

    Blessings,
    Mrs.B

  6. It's neat that you shared verses from Colossians, Sarah. This past week I have been memorizing and studying the book of Colossians! I was just musing over it tonight before I read your post. :-) It's such a rich book, and gives a full and complete picture of how, since we are saved and secure in Christ, we should walk in godliness as children of light!
Thanks for this post! I'm glad to hear that Colossians has blessed you lately, as it has me. :-)
    Love in Him,
    Karen
