A Sneak Peek

. . . into some of what happened here this week . . .

Leah's treadle sewing machine and my chairs in the refinishing/restoration process! We have been having a lot of fun with these. :) And more about them will be coming soon!

  1. Hi, Can't wait to see the end result. I have an old treadle sewing machine which belonged to my husband's grandmother. It needs some TLC and I've been nervous about working on the finish. Looking forward to seeing your sister's machine. Have a good day!

  2. Oh, I just love that picture! I bet you and your sister are having such fun working beneath the shady trees. Does your sister plan to sew on the machine? My mother has two treadle machines, and my sister used to sew on them occasionally.

  3. I'll be sharing about it soon, Joan! And also what products she used to restore it. Maybe it will be a help to you for if/when you work on yours! It's really neat that you have the one that had belonged to your husband's grandmother. What a special family heirloom!

  4. We did, Sarah! Though the picture doesn't reflect how *hot* it was. :) We made sure to work in the mornings, but the heat indexes were still in the upper 90's/low 100's then!

I'm not sure if she'll use it for real sewing or not. She did sew a bit with it just for fun, and it works beautifully! How neat that your mother has two treadle sewing machines. I have one as well, and did a bit of sewing on it once. Sometime I think it would be fun to piece an 'antique' quilt together using one!

Thanks so much for your comment! Each one is read and enjoyed. :)
